Laboratory Technician

- Assist the Pathologist in responding to public emails and calls; diagnose issues from photos, collect and track information on spreadsheets, use and modify standard responses for common forest health issues - Assist the Pathologist with literature reviews and summarizing data from recently published papers, webinars, meetings, etc. to answer programmatic questions or remain current with research on pathogens of concern - Attend site visits as necessary to address landowner or DEC concerns and assist the pathologist with sample collection for various pests/pathogens. - Assist with data entry and analysis for various pathology projects - Create informative social media posts, presentation slides, articles, etc. for external and internal outreach. Create web page content with assistance from Pathologist and Lab Director. Give presentations on lab research topics as needed. - Complete fixed and variable radius prism plots for monitoring pathogens of concern or characterizing stands - Collect insect samples from traps, maintain organization of pathology samples. - Use GIS to determine adequate trapping locations or survey locations for pathogens. - Assist with development of high-quality images of forest health-related diseases utilizing a photography studio (training provided) - Provide operational support for field-based projects:

Salary Range:
From $19.27 to $19.27 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Either 1. 60 college semester credit hours which includes at least 18 semester credit hours in biology, chemistry, physics, health science, or science technology; Or 2. two years of professional experience in either a laboratory or a clinical setting performing technical laboratory test and procedures. Or 3. 30 college semester credit hours which includes at least 18 semester credit hours in biology, chemistry, physics, health science or science technology AND one year of experience described in #2 above. Or 4. an associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry, physics, health science, or science technology.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
